Five in the Hive is a great game to play with your early math kiddos! Players work on finding sets of cards that add to five. Players take turns flipping over cards one at a time. Then, when a set of five is discovered, the player who first yells “Five in the Hive” gets to keep the set. Sets can be made up of two numbers (ie 3+2) or more than two numbers (ie 2+1+1+1), so it really helps with students’ mental math and number sense.
Swarm! cards and Bear cards add a twist of excitement when students have to put back a set of their cards or they get to steal a set from another player!

My daughter loves this game! In fact, we all enjoy playing it. She quickly learned what numbers add to 5. I laminated the pieces, so this game will last and be enjoyed by all my kids.
