Your child will practice adding numbers to five. But, not just number bonds like 1+4, 3+2, etc. No! With Five in the Hive, your child will become proficient at adding two or more numbers that add to five. Subitizing Activity Pack
Subitizing is the ability to recognize the number of objects in a group immediately without counting. When you roll a 5 on a die, you don't count the dots, you just know it's five. That is subitizing and it is a crucial kindergarten math skill. This activity pack comes with 10 activities to practice recognizing various groupings of numbers up to 20. Yes, you will need a printer. Each of the games and activity packs needs to be printed to be played. A color printer is not required, but is highly recommended.
A laminator is not required, but recommended. Laminating the cards will increase the durability and lifetime of the cards for these games. I use self-adhesive laminating sheets and they work great - no expensive laminator needed!
Not for most of the games. A few of the games have ideas that require other items generally found around the house, such as spoons or counters.
