Ten in the Pen is a fun, replayable game for kindergarten. Students practice adding to 10 with different number combinations.
Start the game by putting all the cards face-down in a random order on a flat surface. Players take turns turning over one card at a time. When a set of cards adds to 10, the first player to shout “ten in the pen” gets the set. There are pig cards and trough cards that let students steal sets from opponents or require them to put one of their own sets back into play!
This kindergarten math game is great because it doesn’t just work on number bonds to 10, but also lets kids practice adding 3 or more numbers to get ten as well. A set might be 3 + 7, but another set might be 1+1+5+3. So, the mental math skills really get worked in this kindergarten addition math game!
Ten in the Pen is great for reinforcing mental math skills!
